Perhaps if you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, you may not be aware that the Olympics is in London this summer. What’s more the Olympic Torch Relay is making its way around the country, and this Saturday the torch will be in Low Fell.
The torch will start by abseiling from The Sage in Gateshead at 6:40 am before making its way to Gateshead International Stadium to complete a lap of honour.
Low Fell residents can expect to see the torch at the Angel of the North from midday, before it heads down Durham Road and into Chowdene. There will be photo opportunities before the torch leaves Low Fell.
